24hr comics and still drawing

augh I think I'm getting sick. No i am sick but have yet to succumb to the beastly army attacking my body. FIGHT! I cant afford to be sick! Not with deadlines coming up and a 16hr shift tomorrow...... but enough of that.

Last weekend was 24hour comic book weekend. For those of you who don't know it's a challenge to create a 24 page comic book in 24 hours. Myself and a few other Brattleboro artist went to Montpelier . The folks at the Kellogg-Hubbard library  hosted the event(and Trees and Hills). This was my first 24hr comic and not my last. I'm even thinking of doing a 12hr one on  my own as soon as I can carve out the time. I manage to finish mine in 18hrs. Next time I'm going to take a nap and dinner brake. Things got a little silly towards the end. I dozed off a bit with pen in hand somewhere around hr16 too. It was great to be around all those other artist seeing what they were drawing, commiserating over drawing 2 left hands , taking too long on a panel or suddenly not being able to think of what happens next. What fun! I tell ya what drawing for 18 hr straight did nothing to quell my desire to draw, Sunday evening I did a mini painting.
This panel was drawn some where around hour 16.

I think i can blame my current poor heath to beiing awake for over 24hours. It was worth it 'cause I did it!

raining cats and dogs

Well back in Vermont after a long over due but way too short visit to Boston. I miss the days when I could walk down the street to spend time with my best friend. Now its a 2 hour drive. But it was worth it, recharged my batteries and got my ego boosted a little. Which was nice considering my current frame of mind.... AnyhOo... We talked had fancy cupcakes at CherryBomb (no I did not have the bacon ones, but I will next time), lunched and went to Mt Auburn cemetery. Which was beautiful. We saw black squirrel there and a creepy dog under glass! I'm already planning my next little escape as I stand here at the counter of the coffee shop on the first half of my 16 hour work day. Slinging coffee in the AM and pasta in the PM. Making more screens tomorrow ordering tees and doing a few more test runs on my newest design. And a 24 hour comicbook challenge this weekend. Ahh so much to do! But its the only way to get things done.

The rain is coming down in sheets which make bussness slow. I don't mind if it stays like this I maybe able to go home and take a nap before doing my time at the restaurant. Tomorrow mayhap I'll post some pictures of what I've been working on.

happy equanox

Ahh I hope this works. I'm setting it up so I can blog from my phone. Today's the first day of fall. I'm not sure I'm ready for Fall just yet. Ah well you can stop to passage of time now can you.
So tomorrow I'll be back working at the coffee shop a day or two a week. My screen printing endeavour is eating up all my moneys so back to the coffee shop to earn some cash for my bussness which will some day better pay ME!
So on that note I have messenger bags printed and soon to be for sale on etsy, as well as another print. Well I have much to do before I head off to the restaurant at 1. Cheers!

still alive

I was in a rut of sorts for a while. So I took a blog brake. I didn't want this blog to turn in to how crappy and frustrated I feel about my life blablabla... but I'm pulling my self out of it and producing more art then ever. I finished two acrylics already this month and I'm working on a 3rd right now( I'm blogging between layers, I hope to finish today). Monday I'm ordering more screen printing supplies and raw shirts, hoodies and bags. So ready or not here I go!

ahh Back to Work

So today begins my "work" week... My goals this week are to get this printing operation up and running. I still have a few minor set backs to overcome such as not having proper drainage in the utility sink and a computer i want to hit every time I use it. I'm still slowing working on my business plan. I hate writing it, but I need more money and in order to get a business loan I need a business plan. Mayhap I'll find a way around it mayhap not. I just need to stay focused.

Now since today is Wednesday, I'm off to paint a watercolour. A few weeks ago I gave myself a challenge to paint 25 watercolours in 25 weeks. I started April 18th and will "end" the week of October 3rd. I'm going to wait until Oct. before i post any of it on Etsy. I think I'll do some sort of 7 month Series special or something. Bundle all the prints from the Series with a tee-shirt of one of the top 3 paintings or something like that. We'll see. Well i gots to go if I'm going to finish a watercolour before i go to the restaurant this afternoon.

oh yeah! I now have Prints available!!! check out my Esty!

hikes and greetting cards

I don't like how fast the weeks have been going by, not one bit. Jeremy had his birthday and loved his presents i got him and am making for him. The giant kitty painting still has many hours of work left to it. He loves it and that's all that matters. IN the way of other news I had a meeting the a woman who's is staring a gay and Trans-gender greeting card company. That went very well shes going to give me some ideas to draw on sunday and we'll finalize our "contract".

Had a very nice day off with the hubby yesterday. went for a hike and had a bbq.

My brother purposed to his girlfriend friday she said YES! I will have a sister- law! I'm happy my brother found some one whos love him for who he is.

ZOOOM! week at warp speed

This week has flown by. It really feels like it was just Sunday yesterday and here it is Sunday today. I'm waiting to the impending thunderstorm to brake. I love New England weather. Last week I had to paint with my fingerless gloves on due to the cold and today I think I'm wearing less then a pound of clothing and still sweating my ass off.

It FEELS like i spent all my time at the restaurant this week.... work sleep work sleep work sleep... i have got some other things done this week. I'm still working a way on the huge kitty painting. I also finished a new watercolour this week, which will go up for sale on my Etsy later this week. Also I found a good print shop so there will be prints of my watercolours for sale this week. It was so nice to find a shop locally that is used to dealing with artist and is will to work with you to get a product you'll be will to sell. Love It! ohh looks like tat storm might be crashing soon. gonna turn the computer off...

Gray damp and lazy

Spent the day so far drifting around from room to room in my apartment, "doing things". Cleaning up a weeks worth of pencil shavings in the studio, three days or so of dishes (done in phases) in the kitchen, napped with the cats in the living room, listening to old episodes of This American Life. Feeling lazy. I have done a bit of work. Designed a Tee-shirt, made crapes and an eggbake-thing(it's tastie even if I don't know what to call it) and finished putting together my 4colour press with my new ratchet set. Now I just need to figure out how to get water to go down the drain in the sink my Hubby put in for me a week ago. But neither of us are plumbers and are unsure of how to solve this problem. I'm wary of using my claw-foot bath tub to make my screens since I don't know what the chemicals and inks would do to it.....

My submission for the Brattleboro Comix Lab(BCX) is yet to be finished. I really want to get it done on time, but I'm not sure if I will. This deadline sunk up on me, it's due this Saturday. eecck!
I love my idea and I want to do it right. Mayhap I'll do a shorter version, and revisit the idea when i have the luxury of time and space.

Started a birthday present for my Hubby, its a 48"x24" painting of a giant demon/ghost cat watching 3 other smaller kitty's dance a round a fire. It wont be done for his birthday(which is May 8th) but he doesn't care, he's just happy that I'm painting this for him.

I sometimes look at a drawing and remember or at lest have an impression of what I was listening to while I was drawing it(not so much paintings tho, I think its all the layers). So I am painting this one while listening only to Sherlock Homes stories. So far looking and the unfinished piece i can "see" the stories woven in to the paint. But the thing is far from done. But...when I'm finished will I look at the painting and think of dancing cats or Homes?

Well on that note. I think I shall leave the interewbs and paint a bit while I still have some natural light.

Part 2: err a little late

Well I had planned on doing this later Sunday, but I drank my birthday present from my friend. A lovely Aligaster white beer(omonomnom) and did not realize until too late it was 11% alcohol! : ) soooo I was a bit tipsy considering I drank the whole thing in a little under an hour... and yesterday I build a table!

ahhh so any how... I had a good Birthday last Wednesday. I did have to work at the restaurant, but had a good time anyways. My Hubby had decorated my studio with pink streamers and balloons the nite before (so I saw it when I got home from work) it was very sweet. Had my favorite breakfast of pie and sausages, and spend my birthday gift on lots-o-books and a ray gun. It's nice to feel so loved by your friends and family. All and all it was a good birthday.

I got my LLC paperwork back FINIALY . SO introducing Neronski Designs LLC !!! One step closer to doing what I really want to do.

i forget now what else i was so eager to blog about. oh well, I'm off to enjoy the sliver of the day i have left before work

Spring has sprung and works getting done

ugh! Where to start. I've been busy like always. I'm looking forward to the day when I can just consecrate on art, more and more these days. The restaurant has been a very busy and stressful place lately. Painful too, since I messed my back up, but that seems to be getting better. I like cooking and I'm good at it, but it wares on me. I'd much rather be painting, it makes me much happier. Speaking of paintings! I'm nearly done with Kittypuss. I think this is my fav so far this year. I've been taking pictures at each stage of the painting and will post a little "from sketch to finished piece" thing when I'm done.

Comic Update: Trees and Hills are taking orders for their latest anthology PLAY. I'm thrilled. This is the first time I'll have had anything published! The BagLady written by Jason Knopp is now finished. Its only a two pager, but I'm satisfied with it. Next up is my yet untitled submission for The Brattleboro Comix Labs first publication The B-Files.
And just for fun Pez-a-saorus' first comic:
Pez is such a great kitty and quite a character to live with.

I don't know why she was rubbing on my desk, mayhap she was happy that I was drawing a comic about her...

littleINK is coming along slowly but surely. I have a woman who works with micro-business helping me write my business plan. Its a pain but a necessary evil if people are ever going to give me money to get this thing off the ground.

The weather the past week has been beautiful! The leafs are budding , flowers are out! I love it! Its been so nice to have all the windows open and let the stale winter air out of the apartment. Also did a little BBQn' NomNOMNOm!!!!

Lions and Tigers and Squirrels! Oh my!

Its been a nice casual work day for me today. I really enjoy having time to myself to work at my own pace thou I do keep having to remind myself that I am getting things done and I don't have to work at full speed all the time. Which is why I rather enjoy rainy days. I can work on my art all day and not feel bad for not going out side.

I nerely finished two paintings today, one watercolour, one acrylic. The acrylic is a "Thank you for taking such good care of my kitties" gift.

The watercolour I will finish tomorrow once the paper is completely dry. Also I've been working on some long put off writing projects, namely Graveyard Squirrels, which attempts to be a dark children's book.

Tomorrow i submit my paper work to become an LLC. I'm very exsided, soon i will be the owner of my own bussness, a company of one.

Gallary walk

Tonite is Gallery walk here in old B-town. Which means a busy nite at the restaurant. Speaking of busy that's what I've been lately. Busy, busy, busy!

I finally finished the "Werewolf's Calamari Nite" painting, love it! I really need to find a place to have good quality prints made so others might enjoy the Werewolf too.I also finished "Balance" a mini comic I did for the latest Trees and Hills antholigy Play. This will me my first published comic!

..... And just a little heads up... I'm starting my own screen-printing business called littleINK. so soon you'll able to perches your very own Neronski original tees. I'll keep ya all updated as the process goes along. So far it's lots of numbers and paper work. I will hopefully have it all up and running by June.
anyhoo gots work to do!

Drawing on the B-side

The little house-sitting adventure is nearly at its end. Thank god! It's quit odd living in someone else home, seeing how they live without them being there. I've come to realized over these past weeks that I no longer want to live in the woods. I like not having to structure my day around a "trip in to town". I allso really, really miss my cats.

So monday we had our fourth comicbook lab meeting(we're still working on a name for our group, I kinda like The B-side Comics Lab). It was a good meeting, we did a sort of show and tell with what we are all working on and got some constructive feed back. P3 went over very well, people seemed to get what was going on even with out the lettering done. We also talked about the publication our group wants to put out and set a deadline for submissions. The publication will be called The B-files and will be a compilation of mini-comics all set in Brattleboro and the surrounding area, and the deadline for submissions is May 1st. I love our little comic group, its great to get together with fellow artist and talk shop, help each other problem solve, and have son one other then your self monitoring your progress. Its also just good to have a time each month just purely dedicated to our projects. Speaking of projects, I'm 6 pages into the pencils for P3. I think that's pretty good.

well back to work... :)

Housesitting

Its the beginning of a new year, hell a new decade. There is so much personally and professionally that i hope to accomplish. Currently I'm house-sitting for my boss, who is in Costa Rica. He has a lovely home, but its in the middle of nowhere. This comes at a good time since the lead paint is being removed from our apartment and we can't be there. I just hope they finish before he gets back from vacation, if not i guess we'll have to couch surf for a while.

All this time way from my home (and kitties! I miss them so!) and with out the distraction of any of my other projects is allowing me to concentrate on Project3. So far the rough draft is pages away from being done and I have 3 pages of pencils completed. Jason and I really need to come up with a title for it, Project3 is fine for a working title, but it will not work for the actual title. He is looking into publishing cost and whatnot so I can focus on getting the first issue completed soon. I really hope to have this published by summer time.
Well on that note I should get to work.

oh yeah! I made myself an Etsy store. I only have 3 items for sale at the moment, but will post a bunch more in Febuary when I return home. Check it out at www.neronski.etsy.com it takes a few minutes to sign up for an account but it is worth it and its free!
